Transportation
The Piedmont Triad International Airport serves Greensboro, as well as High Point, Winston-Salem and Charlotte.

Amtrak connects Greensboro with the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Richmond, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham and New Orleans through its Crescent and Carolinian and Piedmont lines. The Amtrak station and depot is located at 236-C East Washington Street. Amtrak trains, taxis, local and long distance buses arrive and depart from the station, which was originally constructed in the 1920’s and modernized in 2004. The Greensboro Transit Authority provides bus service throughout the city, including a service provided called “Higher Education Area Transit” (HEAT), linking downtown attractions to the area colleges.

Highways
Joining together and then splitting in the Greensboro area are Interstate 40 and Interstate 85. Interstate 85 goes onto form a junction with Interstate 40 just south of downtown.

Currently under construction is the Greensboro Urban Loop. When completed, it will encircle the majority of Greensboro and will intersect several major roadways serving outlying areas.
